Charlie and the Ghost- Episode 2

It’s Episode 2 of Charlie and the Ghost!  posted on “A Cause to Celebrate”, Cause, well, lets face it, we’ve been slacking in the “cause to celebrate” department.  We will approach it with more vigour!  until then, enjoy this!

Jerry and Penny, Episode 2

Welp, we’ve been off to a bit of a “not updating every day” start, but i mean, it’s cause of all the celebratin’ that has been goin down.  PLUS, we have another episode for yah!  It is by far, my favourite thing i’ve ever animated.  Please, spread it around!  show your friends if you like it.  That is all!  Watch it, and enjoy!

Jerry and Penny- Episode One!

Here at “a Cause to celebrate”, we’re striving to give you reason to rejoice each and every day!  aaand, we’ve dropped the ball the last few days.  Hopefully this cartoon we made will cheer you up!  What does it have to do with holidays?  Nothing.  not a darn thing.  BUT!  Cartoons are fun… and that is a cause to celebrate, right?  Watch it!  pass it around.

Happy “the beatles happened” day!

all of the holidays for today are kind of dull, so i thought i’d make up a holiday based on a historic event that wikipedia said happened.  Oh, wikipedia… the things i never knew before you were invented!  And also, might not know now, because just incase we forgot, anyone can add anything to wikipedia, and it is really easy to fake sources.  ANYHOO!  Here we are:  today, in 1957, two people met.  Then, like 3 years later, the Beatles were the result.  And we all know that song they wrote!  YOU know the one.  Lucy in the strawberry fields lonely people, eh there jude?   Happy the Beatles happened day!  I can’t think of a better CAUSE TO CELEBRATE (dot net).  see what i did there?

Happy X-Day!

Everything you need to know about this wondrous holiday is on this link:

Here’s my favorite excerpt:

When July 5, 1998 arrived and no alien fleet appeared in the sky, members of the Church began citing a large number of conspiracy theories to explain why the predicted end of the world did not take place. The manual page of the ddate program claims that the Church “declared that it had got the year upside down” and that X-Day will actually take place in 8661.

I actually laughed out loud when I read that.  Diana wondered why I was laughing.  It is also a number of other holidays today, like New York City celebrates emancipation day!  But i don’t know how to draw that.

Happy Dog Days!

“The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming so you better run…”

Actually, the dog days aren’t over, they’re just beginning.

If you’ve been around a radio in the last couple years or so, you’ve probably heard good ol’ Florence busting out these lyrics about the Dog Days of Summer.

July 3rd, marks the beginning of these “dog days”.

The term “Dog Days of Summer” comes from way back in the day when the Romans associated hot weather with a star called Sirius, or “little dog”. Sirius was known as the brightest star in the sky and believed to be the cause of much hot weather. Apparently the dogs went mad and a lot of people got sick and thus Sirius was to blame.

If the Romans would have made it to British Columbia, they might not have been so against the dog days… I know we, as contemporary west-coast Canadians, would welcome the dog days with a milkbone and a pat on the head.

Romans can hate on them if they want…  As for me, I believe the Dog Days of Summer are A Cause to Celebrate.

Happy World UFO Day!

Betcha didn’t know that July 2nd is World UFO Day?  Well, now you do.

While looking up what this day is all about, all I find on Wikipedia is that World UFO Day is “a day in which individuals and groups are encouraged to gather together to watch the skies for unidentified flying objects.”

That’s it.

Now, do you think that aliens and other non-earthly beings are also aware of this holiday and thus purposefully send their spaceships into orbit for us to see? Whilst goog-ling “dates of UFO sightings” I’ve learned that there has actually never been record of any sightings on July 2nd, at least so far.

Talk about a let down eh? Or, wait, what is that I see in the sky???

Anyways, July 2nd would also normally mark the exact half way point through the calendar year…but this year is a leap year, so this doesn’t work.

World UFO Day, A Cause to Celebrate?

Happy Canada Day!

And so begins the WONDROUS ADVENTURE of a young married couple writing a blog about holidays, and drawing dumb pictures to give yah something to look at.  It’s fitting that the first holiday we celebrate is CANADA day, mostly because CANADA friggin’ rocks, but also because it is the country we are from.  But seriously, I love this country and our can-do mentality.

Take the snow birds for example.  Other countries?  they make aerial acrobatic teams out of F-18’s and F-16s (the blue angels and the thunderbirds hail from the land of the free…)  But CANADA? we’re like “Is it really that awesome to do acrobatics in a jet that costs millions and millions of dollars?  …Wouldn’t it be more impressive to do acrobatics in a jet that ISN’T really designed to be awesome?”  Anyways, i’m pretty sure the snow birds would make a pretty darn cool transformer… I would buy that toy.
